Chapter I
Introduction
Art. 1.
(1) Luma Film Fest is a cultural film festival dedicated to cinematic works inspired by literature and storytelling, held in accordance with the present rules. The specific themes, categories, and formats may vary for each edition of the festival.
(2) Luma Film Fest is an open, fair, and inspiring platform that connects storytelling and cinema through creative expression.
(3) For the purposes of these rules, the term “submission” or “submitted work” refers to the audiovisual work (film) entered by a participant for consideration in the festival.
Chapter II
Who Can Participate
Art. 2.
(1) Individual participants or teams may participate in Luma Film Fest.
(2) There is no age restriction, unless explicitly stated for a specific edition or category.
(3) By participating, all participants accept these rules.
Chapter III
What Kind of Work We Expect
Art. 3.
(1) Each submission must present a previously announced book.
(2) The duration of the submission must comply with the requirements of the respective category, as specified in each edition of the festival.
(3) The video may be filmed both with a professional camera and a mobile phone.
(4) Different creative approaches are allowed – live action, animation, experimental and others – as long as there is a clear connection to the book.
Chapter IV
Technical Requirements
Art. 4.
(1) The submission must have good image and sound quality so that it can be viewed without difficulty.
(2) The format and resolution must comply with the requirements of the FilmFreeway platform.
(3) Videos with serious technical problems may not be admitted to participation.
Chapter V
The Book and Its Interpretation
Art. 5.
(1) The submission is a visual interpretation with a promotional purpose, and not a film adaptation or retelling of the book. Visual interpretation means a translation of the main ideas, emotions and atmosphere of the book into the language of cinema.
(2) Participation in the festival does not grant rights for screen adaptation or any other form of adaptation.
(3) The manner in which the book is presented is the responsibility of the participant.
Chapter VI
Copyright
Art. 6.
(1) Participants must have the right to use all materials in the submission – music, images, text and others.
(2) The use of copyrighted materials without permission is not allowed.
(3) Luma Film Fest and FilmFreeway bear no responsibility for copyright infringements.
Chapter VII
Submission of Work
Art. 7.
(1) All submissions must be submitted only through the FilmFreeway platform.
(2) A participation fee may be required, which is announced in advance for each edition of the festival.
(3) Applications submitted after the deadline are not considered.
Chapter VIII
Evaluation
Art. 8.
(1) Submissions are evaluated by a jury or pre-determined evaluators.
(2) The main evaluation criteria are:
Idea and concept
Connection to the book
Creative approach
Visual and sound execution
Chapter IX
Content and Tone
Art. 9.
(1) Submissions must be respectful and suitable for a broad and youth audience. Content that is offensive, discriminatory, violent or inappropriate will not be admitted.
(2) Luma Film Fest reserves the right to remove from participation submissions that do not comply with these rules.
Chapter X
Awards and Categories
Art. 10.
(1) At the end of each edition of Luma Film Fest, awards in various categories are announced and presented.
(2) The categories, as well as the type of awards, are announced in advance for each edition.
Chapter XI
Use of the Submitted Works
Art. 11.
(1) By submitting a work, participants give consent for Luma Film Fest to use the submissions for:
Festival screenings;
The festival website and social channels;
Educational and promotional activities;
Presentation to partners, publishers and professional audiences.
(2) What is stated in Art. 11 (1) does not limit the rights of the participants over their videos.
Chapter XII
Duration of the Granted Rights
Art. 12.
(1) The right to use the submitted works by Luma Film Fest is valid for a period of 5 years, starting from the date of submission.
(2) After the expiration of the period under Art. 12 (1), the submitted work may be used only with the consent of the author.
Chapter XIII
Deadlines and Editions
Art. 13.
(1) All deadlines for submission, selection and awarding are announced in advance for each edition of the festival.
(2) Submitted works are considered only for the respective edition and are not automatically transferred to future festivals.
Chapter XIV
Disputes and Objections
Art. 14.
(1) In case of an objection or dispute related to the content or rights over a submitted work, the participant undertakes to cooperate in clarifying the case.
(2) Until its resolution, Luma Film Fest may temporarily suspend the public screening of the submission.
(3) The decisions of the organizing team apply to the respective edition of the festival.
Chapter XV
Final Provisions
Art. 15.
(1) Luma Film Fest reserves the right to update the rules when necessary, which will be announced in advance.
